Dr Karl Vaz

Karl is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist who graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2014. After completing his internship at the Royal Hobart Hospital, he returned home to Victoria to undertake basic physician training at the Alfred Hospital, before completing gastroenterology training at both Alfred and Austin hospitals. He undertook a Clinical Hepatology Fellowship through the Austin Victorian Liver Transplant Unit, and is currently completing a PhD investigating fatty liver disease through Monash University. He remains interested in general gastroenterology conditions, including all forms of liver disease, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, reflux disease, and diagnostic endoscopy, and welcomes referrals for all these conditions. Outside of medicine, Karl loves watching his Melbourne Demons play on the ‘G and enjoys running.
